My paintings explore meaning and narrative through the juxtaposition of figures, objects, and colors. Similar to my works in sculpture, I am interested in the conversation between the viewer and the painting, and their interpretation of the work's internal dialogue. Figures are often placed into direct conversation with an object. Although the objects may seem random, each one is chosen for a specific reason and its relation to the figure. Figures are rarely fully represented, primarily presented by limbs typically involved in some action. In addition to the conversation between figure and object, titles play an important role in negotiating the understanding of the work's internal dialogue.
